Haikus

Haikus are simple, Japanese poems. They have 3 lines, with 5 syllables in the 1st and 3rd lines, and 7 in the middle line. Usually they are about nature, but can be about other things. I will add more every so often. Here are some.

Theodore, my hamster
 Soft thistledown fur
Nibble, squeak, licks my fingers
Albino treasure

Theodore

Duck
Waddling feathers
Slides into murky water
Quacking joyfully

Frog
Gelatinous eyes
Lands squelchily on a leaf
Throbbing cry echos

Coconut
Bristling armour
But reveals creamy flesh
And sweet, snowy milk

Coral
Pale pink fingers wave
In the utterly still sea
Delicate beauty

Poems
Careful clever rhymes
Balanced poetically well
For perfect effect

  1. COMMENT ABOUT: Have you ever tried to write a haiku? What could you write one about?
